Comprehensive Nutrition Analysis

How do you eat properly if you do not understand what your body needs in the form of calories and macronutrients (carbohydrate, protein, fat)?

As a part of your comprehensive nutritional analysis, we measure what you are currently eating, and break it down into it’s macronutrients. We then compare this information with your metabolic testing, a service that we perform, to best recommend dietary changes to suit your body weight goal and nutrition.

To get started, download a comprehensive nutrition analysis intake form.pdf or contact CDA Spine (208) 765-9100 to obtain a copy of the form. When filling out the three day food intake portion of the form, try to be as accurate as possible. Arrange for your RMR test (see below) when you have completed the intake form.

Your resting metabolic rate (RMR) is the amount of energy that you expend at rest. Everybody is different. The MedGem indirect calorimeter is a device that measure the amount of oxygen that you consume to determine your resting metabolic rate (RMR). By accurately measuring your RMR we are better able to determine the most appropriate calorie budget (how much food you should eat) to help you achieve your desired body weight for optimum weight loss, performance, and healing capacity.

What can I expect during my RMR test? This test is a simple non invasive procedure. After being seated comfortably our staff will provide you with a mouth piece that you will breath in and out of through the MedGem device. You nose will be plugged with soft clip to ensure that all oxygen is going into the MedGem and being measured. The test will take 5-10 minutes. After the test is complete you will be given your results. Kristi Flicker, RD,LD our dietitian will then analyze your results and offer a complete nutrition analysis based on your RMR and nutrition intake.

Your RMR test is scheduled through CDA Spine, (208) 765-9100. Phone to schedule. The test is easy, painless, and takes about 15 minutes. The RMR test is best completed in the morning because it does require fasting, i.e. do not eat/drink exercise, or consume caffeine or nicotine for at least 4 hours prior to the RMR test.

Your three day food intake form should be completed and submitted by the time you do your RMR test so that we will have this information available to analyze and prepare recommendations to provide to you at your nutrition consultation with Kristi Flicker,RD, LD

Your nutrition consultation with Kristi Flicker,RD,LD is scheduled after completing your RMR.
